Competition shoes

Among your sources for competition shoes (spikes, throwing shoes, etc.):

Runner's Den or The Strapped Jock (both in Phoenix)--mention that you run for Saguaro to get a discount
www.firsttothefinish.com (lots of discounts)
www.runningwarehouse.com (good prices, free shipping & free returns)
www.eastbay.com (big selection but not nearly the discounts)
There are of course others.

Sprinters, please consider a shoe with at least a small heel (perhaps a mid-distance spike, although some sprint spikes have a slight heel, too), since a heel is valuable for hurdlers, jumpers, and even long sprinters (400).

Finally, I have some odds-and-ends spikes that I will be happy to give away.  See me at Practice

Two Cats
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.  He said, "My son, the battle is between two cats inside us all.

"One is Evil -- It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is Good -- It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which cat wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
