4/12/2008 - Ahwatukee Foothills 5K

It's official! Laura Orlie set a new AZ State record for the 5KM with an outstanding 18:41 in the Ahwatukee Foothills 5K held on April 12, 2008.

4/12/2008 - Ahwatukee Foothills 5K

On this blustery day, Laura and Fred Orlie, McKenna and Savannah Gaffney, and Ally Novacek all ran some pretty good times in the Ahwatukee Foothills 5K.
Unofficially, Laura added to her set of State Records by setting a new "loop" 5K State 14 year old's record with a 18:40. The previous mark was a 18:59 set in 2000 on this same course.

In addition to the above Bobcat athletes, Tim Orlie, Coach Jocelyn Gaffney, Tim Gaffney, Jeff Novacek and Elizabeth Novacek (jogging stroller division) participated as well.

1/19/2008 - Bobcats Intrasquad Meet and Party
The Bobcats Intrasquad Meet and Party was a huge hit with the Athletes and Parents alike. Thank you to everyone for taking part and a special thanks to the Dysons for all their work including taking care of the karaoke machine.
Much to everyone's surprise, Gladys Knight and the Pips (yep, that's them in the photo to the left) made an appearance at this year's Bobcats Party.

1/13/2008 - PF Chang's 1/2 Marathon
Laura Orlie set a new AZ State record for the 1/2 Marathon by turning in a 1:45.58 in the PF Chang's 1/2 Marathon.

12/16/2007 - ARR Desert Classic

On this fine Arizona morning Bianka and Alexya Haro and Tim and McKenna Gaffney ran the 5K in the Arizona Road Racer's Desert Classic.

In the 30K relay, was a team (see photo to the left) consisting of Jocelyn and Savannah Gaffney and Alexandra and Jeff Novacek. The 30K relay was broken up into 4 legs (5K-10K-10K-5K, a fine distance medley) with Coach Gaffney and Ally running the two 5K legs and Savannah and Coach Jeff running the two 10K legs.
It was brisk (in the 30s at the start), but, a good time was had by all!

11/22/2007 - ARR Thanksgiving Day Classic Road Race

Bobcat participation in the 5K race was Bianka and Alexya Haro, Mary, Ally, Anna, Elizabeth, and Samantha Novacek, and McKenna and Coach Gaffney.

Coach Jeff Novacek and Savannah Gaffney opted to run the 10 mile race. With the encouragement and coaching from Coach Jeff, during the Bobcat cross country season, Savannah had the endurance and training to run a 10 mile race. Both completed the 10 mile race, with personal bests. Savannah ran a 1:14:49, to set a new AZ State road race record for a female age 11. The old record was 1:44:00.
